I want to share the premiere recording of my recent vocal trio, “Różowa Magia (Pink Magic)”, written for Cincinnati Soundbox and performed by Jackie Stevens, Lauren McAllister, and Ellen Graham. It was my first time setting Polish, which is something I’ve wanted to do since moving to Warsaw. The singers did a beautiful job learning both the piece and the the text, and I’m grateful that they brought the piece to life so thoughtfully.
Anne Arenstein recently interviewed all composers involved in the “Parallels” project, a set of five commissions by composers from the US and Poland. Two performances will be held – one in Cincinnati, OH, and one in Warsaw, Poland. It was a pleasure corresponding with Ms. Arenstein, as she asked thoughtful questions about my work and my piece, and put together a wonderful article. You can read the article in full here.
Last year, the choir I sing with here in Poland, Musica Sacra, recorded an album of all-new settings of the “Pie Jesu” text. The pieces are all quite different in tone and style, and it was an incredible experience to both compose and sing for the project. I’ve recently uploaded the recording to my SoundCloud page:
